About
I am an artist and gilder living in the West Country. I work from a studio close to the beautiful and celebrated River Wylye, a stone’s throw from the glorious calcareous grassland of Salisbury Plain. Surrounded by chalk, what could be more appropriate for a gilder!
A life long passion for and appreciation of the natural world and concern for its plight, has led to the close observation of its form, texture and symmetry, frequently reflected all around us in modern architecture and historical ornament.
In the studio, traditional craftsmanship and specialist skills learnt over many years working directly with individuals, interior designers, architects and other craftsmen has led to a multi disciplinary approach, often material and process driven. These methods explore traditional techniques such as, Pastiglia, Sgraffito and eggshell inlay and often employ unusual materials, wax, mycelium, cork and clay. The underling principles of the studio are attention to detail, the use of high quality materials and flawless craftsmanship.
